Diamond (blue) of the Crown of France

Blue diamond of the Crown of France, also called Bleu de France or Bleu français ( translated into English by « French Blue ».

It is also called Blue of Tavaernier, the name of the one who brought back it of India in 1668, and sold to Louis XIV in 1669. Louis XIV makes it re-cut by Jean Pittan in 1672-1673

Louis XV has it includes in the necklace badge of the order of the Golden fleece.

This diamond was stolen in 1792, during the French revolution, from the State Furniture Storehouse.

This diamond weighed 116 carats. It was cut again twice and weighs now 45.52ct.

Its track was lost until François Farges in 2007 discovers his lead model and proves that the famous diamond Hope appeared in England after the theft, results from the blue diamond of the Crown of France.

There is the biggest blue diamond never discovered to this day.
