Amazonite

Amazonite
  • Etymology : from the name of the Amazonia river, from the first discovery.
  • Discovery: 1847 by Johann Friedrich August Breithaupt

The amazonite is a microline variety.
Its blue green color is coming from lead (more than 1.2%).

A large part of the amazonite used in jewery is enhanced.
