Meteorite Mars – Louise Michel

    Name given by Meteorical Society to a meteorite origin of Mars.

    Louise Michel (on 1830/1905) was a revolutionary activist, in the feminist ideas, the libertarian. It was a major figure of the Commune de Paris in 1871.

    She was deported in New Caledonia.


    The meteorite which bears its name was discovered in April, 2011 in Moroccan Sahara. The main stone weighed 522g, and was accompanied with 22 fragments of meteorites of a lower weight in 20g each.

    Its weight was of 654g. It was dated of 654g and was classified NWA on 1068.

    It is a meteorite coming from Mars, from the type Shergottite (basalt).
