  • Synonym : Erinite, Kashmirine, Patschinite, Spessartine
  • Etymology : Of the name of the mountain Spessart, in Germany. This variety of garnet had been named first of all " granatförmiges braunsteinerz " in 1797 by Martin Klaproth.
  • Discovery: 1832 by François Sulpice Beudant

Variety of garnet of orange color being in the magmatic, metamorphic rocks, pegmatiques.
