Diamond (brown)

Diamond (brown)
  • Etymology : From Greek " adamas " = invincibility. The name diamond was used for the first time by Pline 100 BC.

The brown diamonds are a relatively common variety of diamond.

Their color is due to a distortion of the crystalline structure, called plastic distortion.

One find them mainly in mines producing diamonds pink as mine of Argyle. It is the Australian company Argyle Pink which, further to a big production of brown diamonds, launched a campaign to promulgate these little known diamonds and nevertheless so beautiful.

Today they are used a lot in jewelry(jeweler's store) especially for the realization of the pavements of jewels.
