  • Synonym : Ruberite
  • Etymology : Its name comes from the Latin " cuprum ", because of its copper content.

The cuprite is collectively in product of oxidation of copper sulphates, in association with some native copper, with him malachite, of the azurite, the limonite, the chalcocite.

The cuprite is often in well formed cubic crystals. His color is of an intense red, with a metallic brightness and a high indication of reflection.
