Corundum

Corundum
  • Translations : Corundum, Corundit, Corindone, Corundita, Corundita, Корунд
  • Etymology : Named "corinvindum" by John Woodward of a word deriving from the Sanskrit "Kuruvinda". The name "Corundum" was given in 1794 by Richard Kirwan.
  • Discovery: 1725 by John Woodward
  1. The red corundum, the color of which is due to the vanadium or to the chromium is the ruby.
  2. The blue corundum is the sapphire.
  3. Corundum, in the other colors, is sapphires with as adjective that of the color: sapphire pink, yellow sapphire, sapphire orange, sapphire green, purple sapphire...
