Garnet malaya

Garnet malaya

  • Etymology : Of Malaya = "prostitute" in ki-Swahili.
  • Type localityUmba Valley - Tanzania, on the border of Kenya.

Le nom "grenat Malaya" doit être considéré comme une terminologie commerciale et pas scientifique.

C'est une variété de grenat de composition mixte; 0-83% pyrope, 2-78% almandin, 2-94% spessartite, 0-24% grossulaire avec pas plus de 4% d'andradite (Wise 2005).

When these stones were discovered, nobody too much knew how to classify them. They were then little asked and these gemstones were then " outcasts " (except caste in a way).
Some of these garnets present a variation of color according to the light source: purple, pinkish, orange, yellow, " padparadsha ".
