Astrophyllite

Astrophyllite

  • Etymology : From the greek "astron" άστρον = star and "phullon" φύλλον = leaf, because of its appearance.
  • Discovery: 1854 by Sheerer
  • Comment : The astrophyllite is mainly found in the form of Brown needles in quartz.

The astrophyllite is mainly found in the form of Brown needles in quartz. It is often confused with rutile.

Ofen carved in cabochon, astophyllite is widely used in jewelry.
